The Weeknd Reveals New Album "STARBOY"
The Weeknd surprised his fans this morning with the announcement of a new album.
On Twitter, the singer—real name Abel Tesfaye—released the name of his new album, entitled STARBOY. He also released his new album’s artwork. In comparison to the art on his previous titles, which were all black and white, this has color. It focuses on the three primary colors, red, blue and yellow.

The announcement of a new album stems back to Tesfaye hinting at a possible new era of music. He cleared his Instagram account, wiping it clean. He even removed his latest photo, with the caption, “This is my last photo before the new era.” His bio changed to “STARBOY,” with cross and lightning bolt emojis around it.
Today, the account shows the new STARBOY album cover as its first photo.
The upcoming album follows Beauty Behind the Madness, The Weeknd’s sophomore album. It produced the hit singles, “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face,” both appearing on the Billboard Hot 100. The album sold 415,000 copies during the first week and all of the songs ended up on the charts at the same time. In an interview with VMAN magazine, he said this is the “best sounding album” he’s ever done and it feels “aggressive but sexy.”
When talking about what to expect, he says he’ll “touch on [his] relationship with religion a little bit and how it ties into [his] crazy and materialistic life. [He’ll] touch base on some recent experiences and past experiences that didn’t make the last album.”
If this is the year of artists revealing new artistic eras, then we are all here for it. We can’t wait for The Weeknd’s new music!
