Gucci Mane, Killer Mike & More React To Takeoff's Death

Takeoff’s tragic death has been met with both sadness and shock from across the Hip Hop community, with Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, Joe Budden and many more reacting to his passing.

The Migos rapper (real name Kirshnik Ball) was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas in the early hours of Tuesday (November 1). The 28-year-old was fatally wounded after a dice game turned violent and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quavo, who was with Takeoff at the time of the shooting, was unscathed. Two other victims were transported to nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds, according to police.

Takeoff’s untimely demise has perhaps been most felt in his native Atlanta, Georgia, as many of the city’s musical flag bearers flocked to social media on Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the late Migos lyricist.

“This broke my heart[.] Rest In Peace @yrntakeoff,” wrote Gucci Mane — who worked with the Culture trio on hits like “I Get the Bag” and “Slippery” — on Instagram next to a photo of the late rapper.

Killer Mike added in a heartfelt tweet: “May God Bless Our Dead & May God Protect Our Living. Praying for the Migos family. Praying for my people that we may one day end this war with ourselves.”

Fellow ATLiens Mike WiLL Made-It, Rae Sremmurd, J.I.D, Rich Homie Quan, London On Da Track, K Camp, Baby Tate and the Ying Yang Twins also mourned Takeoff’s passing.

May God Bless Our Dead & May God Protect Our Living.

Outside of Georgia, New York natives Lloyd Banks, Ja Rule and Westside Gunn extended their condolences to Takeoff’s loved ones, while “Panda” hitmaker Desiigner broke down in tears on Instagram Live after learning of the rapper’s death.

“Bro, I can’t even hold it together. I can’t call Qua, I can’t call Offset, I can’t call none of these n-ggas,” he said while crying. “I’m done. I can’t live like this no more.”

Desiigner also suggested he was retiring from music, writing: “I’m done rap” in an Instagram Story.
